What are some of the Coverage Options for Motorcycle Insurance?
While liability coverage is often the only coverage required for a motorcycle insurance policy, there are several other coverages available.
- Liability Coverage will cover bodily injury and property damage that you may cause to other people involved in an accident, but does not cover you or your motorcycle.
- Collision Coverage will cover damage to your motorcycle if you are involved in an accident.
- Comprehensive Coverage pays for damages caused by an event other than a collision, such as fire, theft or vandalism. A good thing to take note of is most comprehensive and collision coverages only cover factory standard parts for the motorcycle so if you have a lot of custom parts on your bike, you should look into additional/optional equipment coverages.
- Underinsured/Uninsured Motorist Coverage will cover damage to you and your property caused by another driver who has no insurance or does not have adequate insurance to cover the damages.
- Many companies will offer a discount on your motorcycle insurance if you take a training course such as the Motorcycle Safety Foundation rider course.
